Privacy notice

What ugcediting.com collects, why, who can see it and how long it is kept — written as a structured draft for review by counsel.

Version 0.1 draftEffective on counsel sign-offTemplate — pending counsel review
This document is a drafting scaffold, not legal advice.

It states how the platform actually behaves — how money is held, when it moves, what each side can see — so that a qualified lawyer can turn it into enforceable terms for the jurisdictions we operate in. It asserts no statutory rights, names no governing law and quotes no statute. Nothing in it should be relied on as a legal position until it has been reviewed and replaced.

How escrow works
01

Summary

This summary is not a substitute for the sections below.

We collect what orders need

Account details, the work you exchange, and the payment records that escrow depends on.

Work stays on the order

Briefs, cuts, notes and messages are visible to the parties and to support if a dispute is opened.

We do not hold card numbers

Funding goes through a payment processor. We keep a reference to the method, not the number.

02

Who is responsible for your data

[Legal entity name and address] operates ugcediting.com and is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. Contact for privacy questions: [privacy contact]. [Representative or data-protection officer details, if required — counsel to determine].

03

What we collect and why

The table lists each category of data the platform handles, why, and who can see it.

The legal basis for each purpose is [to be mapped by counsel for each jurisdiction].

04

Where it comes from

  • From you, when you register, build a profile, post a brief, upload work or send a message.
  • From other users, when a client attaches material to an order or a workspace owner invites you by email.
  • From the platform, which computes performance figures from orders.
  • From our payment processor, which confirms charges, refunds and payouts.
05

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only:

  • with the other party to an order or conversation, as needed for the work;
  • with service providers who host the platform, authenticate users, process payments and send service email, under [contract terms — counsel to specify];
  • with platform staff who review a dispute, limited to the order in dispute;
  • where required by [legal process — counsel to define].

A current list of service providers: [sub-processor list or link].

06

Payment data

Card and bank details are entered with our payment processor. The platform stores the processor’s reference to the method, the last digits for display, and the ledger of charges, escrow holds, releases, refunds and payouts for each order. The ledger is needed to show each side where its money is and to resolve disputes; see the trust page for how it works.

07

How long we keep it

We keep account data while the account is open. Order, payment and dispute records are kept after an account is closed for [retention period and basis — counsel to define], because the other party to each order relies on them. Reviews attached to completed orders [remain / are anonymised — counsel to decide] after closure.

An account with funds held in escrow cannot be closed until those orders are resolved.

08

Your choices and rights

From your settings you can edit your profile, change your notification preferences, remove payout methods and close your account. A workspace owner or admin can remove seats.

Further rights — such as access, correction, deletion, portability or objection — and how to exercise them depend on where you live: [rights and response times by jurisdiction — counsel to define]. Requests can be sent to [privacy contact].

09

Cookies and similar technology

The platform uses storage that is necessary to keep you signed in and to secure your session. [Analytics or other non-essential cookies, and the consent mechanism for them — counsel to define before any are enabled].

10

Security

Access inside the platform is limited by role and by order: a seat sees its workspace, and a party sees its own orders. Payment details are handled by the payment processor. We do not claim any certification in this notice. [Breach-notification commitments — counsel to define].

11

International transfers

Users and service providers may be in different countries. [Where data is stored, and the transfer mechanisms relied on — counsel to define].

12

Children

The platform is not intended for anyone under [minimum age]. [Handling of footage that features minors — counsel to define].

13

Changes to this notice

We will update the version and effective date at the top of this page when the notice changes, and notify users of material changes by [method and notice period].
